The Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) and the Maldives Association of Human Resource Professionals (MAHRP), in association with Villa International High School held a career guidance related talk targeted at A-level students titled ‘Dream, Decide, Develop’ – Seizing your dream career within the Hospitality Industry. The aim of the talk was to enhance awareness of the widespread career paths available in the Hospitality Industry and disseminate knowledge and insights that would assist in pursuing them.
The State Minister of Tourism Hon. Ahmed Solih, the Rector of Villa College Dr. Ahmed Anwar and the Principal of Villa International High School Mr. Saeed Ahmed attended and spoke at the event.
Other attendees included Executive Board Members of MATI and MAHRP, as well as senior management personnel of Villa International High School, teachers and A-level students.
The event included a keynote address with the theme ‘’What to consider when choosing a career?’’ by Mr. Hussain Afeef (President, MAHRP) and case study presentations by two guest speakers, Mr. Mohamed Adil (Jr. Sous Chef, Faarufushi) and Ms. Azhoora Ahmed (Surf Experience Manager, Sonevafushi detailing their journey within the Hospitality Industry.
The event also included a panel discussion and Q&A session with the theme ‘’How do you find your passion within the service industry’’ consisting of Mr. Iyaz Waheed (Executive Board Member, MATI), Mr. Ali Adam (Executive Secretary, MAHRP) and Mr. Tharaka Appuhamy (Assistant General Manager, Talent Management and Quality Assurance, Aitken Spence Hotels).
This is the inaugural career guidance event organized by MATI and MAHRP, more of which are to be organized and executed across the country.
